John Glenn's track and cross-country programs have begun a campaign to turn two rooms into a performance and wellness center. A September 25 report by WHIZ described plans for strength and conditioning, recovery, team meetings and academic work. Boys cross-country coach Doug Joy is part of the effort, which has already drawn early donations.
The campaign would give John Glenn athletes a year-round space for work beyond the track and cross-country course. The school has begun seeking donations; a completion date has not been announced.
Ashlynn Kuklica's 19:21.81 at Seneca East on September 12 remains third on the area girls season-best list. John Glenn's girls also have a promising route to regionals: Division II lists four teams for four qualifying places. If that field holds, a complete eligible John Glenn team can advance together.
John Glenn's boys face a tighter district race. Dover, Carrollton, New Philadelphia and Tri-Valley lead the September 27 projection, with three team places available. Kaid Ritchey's 19:09.88 and Nicholas Yarrington's 19:28 put both near the estimated 19:30 individual boundary. Final district entries will determine the field.
John Glenn and East Muskingum have no September 21–27 race result listed in this report. Their earlier season results include McKinley Kearns' 16:50.22 at Pickerington North on August 29.
